The Le Miccine estate is located in the heart of the Chianti Classico region between the towns of Radda and Gaiole. The 7 hectares of vineyards are farmed organically and owner/winemaker Paula is equally exacting in her management of all facets of the winery and business. These are real, hand-crafted, artisanal wines from hillside vineyards in one of the most sought after Classico sub zones. Terroir here is light and the altitude contributes to the cool micro-climate that is essential in producing mature, ripe Sangiovese. Her aim is to produce wines representing the traditional Tuscan varieties in isolation.
Le Miccine Chianti Classico 2020

The nose is full of ripe cherries with lavender and blood orange notes. In mouth it’s a nice balance of fruity sweetness and mineral acidity. The finish is soft with easy going tannins.
Thanks to warm weather during the summer and in the harvest season, the 2018 classico shows a lot of fruit and sweetness even though it is bone dry. Without too many dry periods and also no excess heat spells, the 2018 has a fresh but not high acidity and the tannins are very supple. This makes for a fun and approachable CC. Served slightly chilled (16C-17C) it is a fantastic wine for summer bbq and makes for a good aperitivo wine with cold cuts and cheeses.
PS. Blend is Sangiovese 95% and Colorino 5%, abundance of Quercetin in this wine that precipitated now in bottle. Quercetin is a fantastic antioxidant that is found in generous amounts in Sangiovese, but causes an “annoying” sediment. Quercetin sediment has no affect on the taste of the wine and will remain in the bottom of the bottle when poured carefully. We usually just pour it into our glass for the extra antioxidants! Think of it as added anti-aging effects.
