Based in the tiny village of Bernouil, just north-east of Chablis, this small family-owned domaine bottle less than 10% of their production so remain relatively unknown. The wines are splendidly typical of the region - crisp and mineral but with an underlying generosity of palate, making them a wonderful yet restrained partner for food. Value such as this is relatively unheard of in Burgundy nowadays.
Domaine Fournillon Bourgogne Epineuil 2020
12.5% abv
Vol- 75cl
This is a great example of Bourgogne Pinot Noir from the Epineuil Commune, neighbouring Tonnerre. Fournillon have some great plots of well sheltered vines located in the valleys. A light wine with angels wings, aromas of red fruit (raspberry, cherry, red) and black fruit (blackberries, blueberries, blackcurrants) punctuated with peppery and delicate smoky notes.
From parcels of vines in the village of Epineuil, the majority of the Pinot Noir is harvested mechanically. The grapes are transferred to the winery for maceration in stainless steel tanks for approximately 2 weeks, at the smae time they undergo daily pigeage. After seperating the must from the skins the wine is aged for at least 15 months in tank before bottling.
