An independent company, owned by Waterkloof founder Paul Boutinot, False Bay Vineyards aims to make 'real' wine affordable. These are sustainable certified wines bottled in South Africa and naturally crafted from mature and often old vineyards that, crucially, are naturally in balance. This means that, unusually at the price, the grapes from these coastal gems can be transformed into wine with wild yeast and an absolute minimum of intervention.False Bay Vineyards are proud to be a WWF (World Wildlife Fund) Biodiversity Champion and certified by WIETA (Wine and Agricultural Ethical Trade Association). All of their wines are Vegan friendly.
False Bay Vineyards Pinotage 2022
14% abv
Vol- 75cl
Seen as South Africa’s signature grape variety, Pinotage is a crossing bred from Pinot Noir and Cinsault grape varieties. Made from 30 year old, unirrigated bush vines which give superb concentration of flavour. The False Bay Winery have produced a superb example of this red wine, which is deep garnet in colour. On the nose there are hints of dark fruits, chocolate and eucalyptus leading to a heady mix of fruit, rich chocolate and plums supported by soft tannins.
“Appealing blackberry, violet, sour cherry and savoury herbs. Lovely definition, firm yet elegant tannins. 93pts.” Decanter magazine, Pinotage Panel Tasting (January 2022)
