Peique is a family winery in Valtuille de Abajo, in Bierzo, that carefully cultivates vineyards and produces wines from the tradition that has been passed down through three generations. Peique is the name of their wines and a way of life that they have created with the land as the essence. They value family and have worked hard to learn how to cultivate their vineyard. These wines are made with affection and humility, and are a faithful and honest reflection of the Bierzo landscape.
Bodegas Peique Vino de Paraje El Rapolao 2019
14% abv
Rapolao is a barrel-aged red wine from the Bierzo Denomination of Origin and produced by Vinos Valtuille.
This Pago de Valdoneje wine is 100% Mencía from the El Rapolao area, a plot located southeast of Valtuille de Abajo. Old, low-yield vineyard, planted on clay soils with the presence of boulders and facing west. Manual harvest in boxes and selection of the fruit in the vineyard and cellar.
Rapolao ferments in 2 ways: half in barrels with stems and the other grapes destemmed in stainless steel tanks. Once the alcoholic fermentation is finished, they are put together and undergo malolactic fermentation in oak barrels, where they then age for 8 months or so.
Notes of ripe red fruit combined with light touches of wild aromatic herbs. In the mouth it is smooth and has a very fresh flavor.
