Collio in Italy’s extreme North-east Friuli region is the recognised standard bearer for quality white Italian wines. Patrizia Felluga (from the local wine dynasty that includes her father and uncle) founded the winery to sum up the terroir of the region, to do so from a single ‘cru’ or vineyard. It is planted with Friulano, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio & Sauvignon Blanc and produces two wines.
Zuani Collio Riserva 150cl 2018
14% abv
Vol- 150cl
Beautifully toned in colour and exquistely proportioned. Ripe Apricots, fat citrus & vanilla bean nuanced flavours with silken mineral textures and aromas of baking bread, warm orchards and grapefuit zest. A tour de force of the region exemplifying location and style – just as the region is between the cool Alps and warm Mediterranean Sea, so the wines straddles the c;arity of mountain airs and cossetting richness of sunlight tones.
The Zuani Collio Bianco Riserva is a blend of Friulano, Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Pinot Grigio from the estate vineyard. Each variety is picked later than its little sibling ‘Vigne.’ They are then vinified separately in stainless steel before aging in French barrique for 10 months.
