Luigia Zucchi's Rugrà Piemontese estate springs from a long held local family tradition for small wine production. They are located in the Monferrato hills in the Commune of Tassarolo just outside the town of Novi Ligure. The tradition became small volume commercial sales from 1992. The 4 ha estate (2 of vines) has always been farmed with the health of the soil and the environment in mind and carries organic certification. Total annual production of all wines is around 830 cases.
Rugra Dolcetto ‘Nivo’ 2015
14% abv
Vol- 75cl
Nibio is a historic indigenous strain of Dolcetto, noted for its red stem and small clusters dating back over 1000 years. This ‘Picula Rusa’ variety was rescued from a selection of old vines in the surrounding Monferrato hills. Aged in large old oak for18 months prior to bottling along with extended time in large stainless steel vat the wine is ruby red with violet shades. A complex perfume of wood berries, raspberries, blackberries and plums gives the palate great elegance. Wood refining improves its wide structure with new and fascinating flavours.
