The farm of Fratelli Recchia is situated in the heart of the historic Valpolicella region. Tradition and innovation, experience and technical progress, the philosophy that has come down through the generations, a perfect union between the old and the new. In 1906 Giovanni Battista Recchia bought a small estate in Jago, Valle de Negrar, built his house and started to cultivate the few vineyards still present at the end of 1800’s. With seriousness and passion the vineyard holdings and production are considerably increased, the company now having 60 hectares of vineyards in Valpolicella and Lake Garda.

From a yield of 4.000 kg of grapes per hectare, 16 hectoliters of wine are produced The grapes are harvested by hand in September and left to dry until they have lost the 35-40% of their original weight. De-stemming and soft pressing of the grapes takes place in December The maceration lasts 5-10 days in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks 5-10o C. The fermentation is traditional and lasts 15-20 days. The wine spends 4 months in stainless steel tanks then 24 months in French oak barrels before 4 months aged in bottle before release.
The Masua di Jago is in the heart of Valpolicella. The Masua is the hill that divides the valley of Marano with the valley of Negrar. The Recchia family vineyards are situated on the south facing slopes of the valley. They catch the early morning sunrise but because of the flat slopes of the fields they also get the rays of the early evening sunset. The fantastic position of the vineyards creates a classic wine. The flinty soils give the Recchia wines a special taste which when combined with the local Scots pines and cherry blossoms of the field creates fantastic wines.
