Quinta de La Rosa Douro White Port NV 50cl

20% abv

Vol- 50cl

A beautiful amber/honey colour, it shows excellent fruit on the palate, tropical fruits especially pineapple, but at the same time has a long dry finish, typical of the house style you find at La Rosa.
This Port has been lightly filtered with no fining and requires no decanting. It should be served slightly chilled and is also a good compliment to rich pates and fois gras. Good to drink cold as an aperitif or with a mixer, White Port and tonic is a particular favourite on the terrace at La Rosa in the summer whilst nibbling on some home produced roasted almonds. Make it like a gin and tonic together with ice and a slice of lemon. It should be consumed within 2 years of bottling.

Traditional port varieties, mainly Viosinho, Gouveia, Rabigato and Malvasia Fina. The first pressings of the grapes are run off and used in our white wines. When the pH starts to rise, the last approximately 10% of the juice is drawn off into stainless steel vats, to
be made into white port, stopping the fermentation by adding brandy. The Extra Dry White Port is blended from stocks held at La Rosa and is aged in large ‘tonels’ for an average of 2-3 years

Never one to rest on her laurels, Sophia Bergqvist has invested significantly over the last few years at La Rosa with the construction of a new winery. New granite lagares, fermentation tanks and an automatic basket press have been purchased, a carefully thought out tasting room overlooking the Douro River has been constructed, an extensive area for entertaining has been created, as well as a number of apartments and guest rooms built to develop the tourism side of the business. You can’t help but be impressed with the scale of this project and admire Sophia Bergqvist’s vision for this family Quinta, whilst she has maintained the integrity of the old building and the charm of a family estate in the Douro.
